Hello.
Not to beat a dead horse, unless he gives me candy or super powers that is, but I've been on one of those synchronistic runs lately, te gamblers fallacy... I was on my way to see the therapist, that deals with my Rx's for the ADD, and though I heard "The Electrocutioner" from a passing car. So I get to the office and I'm late. So I wait. Michael comes down, and apologizes,he was taking the U.S. Citizenship test. He's origionally from North Carolina. anyhow, he asks the standard how have you been, any side effects stuff and I tell him that i've Been emailing and commenting here on the Residents page thing. He's nodding, says something like" that sounds cool." I'm so used to explaining to people who and what the Residents are and do, they've been around but not a lot of people really know who the are, and he's just kind of nodding. Then...No Lie, He takes two mouse clicks on his laptop, and with this expression of indifference, with the sparkle of " Say no More, say no More Nudge Nudge.." he turn the screen to me and he's got a picture of the residents on his desktop Circa Wormwood...I started laughing, and he just grins...
It was an odd confluence of events, but his feigned indifference or detachment, was just classic.
It was charlie Chaplin Essenay studios era straight man comedic timing tinged with the irony, that was just Awesome. Like the grace in which Charlie Chaplin throws a Brick, a sublime meaning in the off-handed-ness of such an act that triggers the chain reaction with such almost intimate fine tuning of wit.

Oh Yes, I love the Collages I love colage work and Frottage F.A.T.A.G.A.G.A. Max ernst Man ray, Beatrice Wood...I have read Silence also, that was a while ago, I saw somewhere, and maybe you can help me out with this, it was Marcel Duchamp's Music! A CD I saw in a cool record store where you could ge a lot of Plunderphonics, tape beatles negativeland, all that kind of great fringe music/sound collage. But it was way out of my price range, and I've only seen or heard it once, but I've read somewhere that he did some compositions in the years when he wasn't "working" i think it was when he was doing the stuff with Mercer meyer (?) Im not sure of the name, but the new york early pop art stuff for stage.
also if you have some time to suggest some bands I shouldcheck out let me now! Oh, About the Thirteenth Floor Elevators, Roky erikson was the lead singer, He did some solo stuff. last I saw him was earlier this year on Austin city limits.

Thanks for the happy birthday, and yeah, i did make it past Dragging around some Lebonese cedar crux that I was going to be nailed to. I never thought about it that way, kinda gives me an Easter perspective coming up on Samhain....I remeber about 10 years ago, I was standing in line at Macy's cofeehouse in flagstaff az. I had on the Rez t-shirt the classic Eyeball and tophat, black and white. Two older gentlemen salt and peppered hair and beards, one in a tie dye, and the other in the suade/denim ensemble, said " All Right! The Residents, I rarely see someone outside of the Bay wearing one of their shirts! I'm a huge fan going back a while." His Tie died friend just sort of nodded. Very Strange occurance to see a man his age, I thought at that time being all of 24,to see him so excited about my being a fan.Oddly enough, the coffee house was on san Francisco Street, Flagstaff was an odd little city, someone had spraypainted J.R. "Bob" Dobbs heads on the brick outside of the Post Office Years ago, and they never bothered to remove it, the had just let it fade, but it was still visible. We were both deeply into Bob and the residents at that time, my Ex and I she even sent off and became ordained as a Minister for Church of the Subgenius.
anyhow, thanks

yeah: "He's a weird monkey, very funky"... "funky like a monkey" as the Am. Dream Dusty Rhodes would say...
glad ya like my artwork... it's all about Symbolism 'n Referances... it's just that most people just miss 'em... whoooosh, right over their heads....
I really like your artwork/collages... very nice... again, all about symbolism... as an artist, you can't worry if everyone gets your artwork or not... the ones that do, do... the others, sorry 'bout that... "That's right folks, don't touch that dial"...

ps: "I sat with my high-heeled sneakers on, waitin' to play tennis in the noonday sun, I had my white shorts rolled up past my waist, 'n my wig-hat was falling in my face, but, they wouldn't let me on the tennis court..."

after rereading my hastily and poorly spelled note, I jumped from one place to another. and Didn't fully explain a lot. no room I guess, or I'm too used to letting the automatic flood take over. Oh and I have Severe(some of the highest numbers he has ever seen, as the Biometric Psychologist Guy told me whilst eating a spinich leaf)Adult A.D.D. like raging like a souped up anti-gravity sort of vehicle, that has no concept of 3 dimensions pitch, Yaw etc.. my brain cruises in the dimension where thought fly past so fast you got to wear a asbestos enviornmental stasis suit from the friction. I have always wanted to write an analogy like that. That was nice. Like a Vomiting donkey flying end over end through the air as propelled from a trebuchet. that sound like a great first line of a chaotic, version of a raymond roussel novel.
anyway, sorry if I make zero sense, I just hope it's entertaining!

Thanks!! that does clear it up, stage desighn bay area, and guitar mags. thats where I've heard youre name before! I've almost a maniacal memorie for the "Oddballs" of the world. I'm turning 34 tomorrow, and have had an intrest in the offbeat since I was a child. My grandmother(my mom's side) was an artist and poet who's work was either conciously or unconciously Unfinished Paintings of Kitsch Landscapes,But her favorites were Outhouses, and Fireplaces that stand after buildings burn down. On the first song of my first Album I use that line, because I love the paradox. I love and have set out to find as much as I can about the Underground, darker, more avante-Garde music of the ^0's and "70's. When I discovered The 13th Floor Elevators, my brain blew up. Here are the Inventors, if you could call it that, of Psychedelic music, From Texas(?), so I tracked down the links, and came across Mad River! That band was the next type of Residents Related Revelation, in an abstract way; the corelation of Surrealist/Dada Music. My fathers side is very odd they are all tradition folk musicians from the Ozarks. My Grat Aunt Violet Hensley, aka The whittlin' Fiddler from Yellville Arkansas hand maks fiddles, an Is now 90+. so i come from a asthetic of americana( I grew up in Kingman Az, and can relate to don Van Vliet, Zappa, and those cats that came out of the Mojave Desert. I was born in Needles, For Crist sakes! and Lives along Rt, 66! I remeber, when I was twelve, I announced(not knowing what it really was) That I was a Surrealist, after seeing a book with Dali,Duchamp,Arp,Man Ray Max Ernst. Then I moved to flagstaff Az, and found out that all those guys used to hang around that area and lived in Sedona! wierd...strange connections. My Sister-in-Law's Dad used to hang around the bay area and sell pot to a lot of guys, and They're familys is directly related to washington Irving! Odd and I'm Re Reading Synchronicity as well....
sorry for the rambling, Cheers

I saw the theater listing for the resident's on your site, im guessing this gets you the great view! i would love to hear about what you have done for them, ive always been so impressed with all the tech for their shows, i work in staging and AV tech to support my art ambitions, I would be the most dedicated person ever if the residents were my boss! Do you reside in Chicago now? I lived in SF from 03-07 going to school, i miss it, but i have many friends in Chicago so i was thinking about moving there next, I hear good things about the eclectic mix of performance types and art happenings there.

Hello.
I was reading that you've done some stage work with the Residents. Very Cool.I have yet to ( and I weep as i write this) see their shows. i have to rely upon watching Icky Flix over and over. I tried once to see if they would listen to some of my music, but I was so much older then, etc. etc. After making an ass of myself viaemail to Bill Harkleroad (Zoot Horn Rollo) I refrain from Using ilicit substances and emailing. Are you from the bay area?, my sister-in-law's uncle was in the Beau Brummels and played the area throughout the sixties.andseventies and occasionally today, anyhow, that's incredibly cool.
I know your name from somewhere, God it sound familiar, I Just can't place it, Anything to do with L.A. or San Francisco art scenes?Bands Artists, Love? Mad River? quicksilver Messenger Service? The family Dog? The Diggers?
just throwin that out there, i live up In Salem,Oregon, myself , anyway,
Keep on truckin' as Mr.R.Crumb would draw..
