Hey man, To answer your question, I use Pinnacle Hollywood Effets software.
(I do need to read the friendly manual some more) Here is the site.
It ain't free, but you might be able to find it through some bittorrent site, like Demonoid.com

Cheers, Gretnoid. Digital Saturday, It was painless......

It's funny you said that, because they recently reproduced a new paperback collection for that reason! Pretty hansom thing too, had it on hold for a while at the local comix shop but never worked up enough bucks to justify the purchase.

So what do you produce your music on? If I were to trust my ears, I'd say those are Garageband synths, which tend to have a a lotta subtleties packed in it requiring headphones to hear without compression.

A classic game, at that! Actually, Sam & Max originally was a comic as well.

Ah I've met Vicky (People Like Us) and also dig some of the Plunderphonics scene...check out Wobbly (Jon Leidecker) I saw him and PLU duet at a London gig for a radio show a couple of years ago.

Would you believe I've actually heard your music before? (Yes, with headphones!) It was a few months ago, in even more coincidence it was because of the Residents. I think it was on the Youtubes, I was looking for a video and something that linked to your MySpace popped up.

That cat is from a comic called Bear. It is keen.
